With dazzling displays from Exeter College’s fashion students, a glitzy Champaign reception, and even a hugely entertaining charity auction, this year’s WESC Foundation Fashion Show had it all. Building on the popularity and success of the 2014 instalment, this year’s extravaganza was of greater size and scope; a fantastic entertainment space was provided courtesy of Exeter’s Met Office – with their grand foyer and main conference room providing a fantastic backdrop to an exciting entertainment program.
With a party atmosphere in full effect, the excellently choreographed Exeter College Dance teams wowed guests into opening their wallets for this fantastic charity. For those not in the know, the WESC Foundation provides cutting edge educational and support services for people with sensory disabilities and learning difficulties. They use events such as the fashion show, along with an extensive program of other fundraisers, to spread awareness and raise vital cash to invest in their facilities.
The highlight of evening proved to be the nail-biting charity auction – led by the very same auctioneer from BBC’s “Homes Under the Hammer”. With a range of lots on offer – from luxury yacht holidays to spa getaways – guests dug deep for a range of exclusive prizes, many of which were specially arranged and unavailable on the open market! Sound Events’ very own Kai Thomas bid for competitor tickets to Rock Solid Race at Escot Park.
Sound Events were delighted to provide full technical production services to WESC and the Met Office. In order that dancers and models could make their entrance impressive, we installed a baffled entrance using black drape with white highlights. Around the perimeter of the room, 4 truss towers provided rigging for a range of lighting, expertly programmed to complement dance routines and catwalk shows. Not forgetting audio, a Sound Events engineer was on hand to deal with the mixture of pre-recorded tracks and live vocals that was required by the client.
With such a prominent screen available pre-installed at the venue, the client wished to take full advantage by employing video and slide content to enhance the program of speakers and entertainment. Sound Events provided full content management services, including graphic design, slide production, video/image collation and encoding, and of course video operation during the event itself. The result was a subtle yet stylish series of content that enhanced the show for both guests and sponsors alike.
All in all, many thousands of pounds were raised for this great charity – and we’re already looking forward to the 2016 Fashion Show.
